KENNEBUNKPORT — An extensive renovation has been announced for the newly purchased Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club in Kennebunkport.

According to Tim Harrington, founding partner and creative director of the Kennebunkport Resort Collection, the 30-room hotel will reopen for the season May 17 after a complete renovation of the hotel rooms, common areas and riverside landscaping.

The resort will also have an exclusive partnership with the Kennebunkport Marina, providing guests special privileges such as transient slips for overnight stays and access to water sports equipment rentals.

"The Yachtsman is a perfect complement and distinctive addition to the KRC portfolio," said Harrington. "Like all of our properties, it has a signature location that drives the design aesthetic, the guest amenities and services, and will set it apart from other hotels in Kennebunkport."

The property was formerly known as the Yachtsman Lodge & Marina and is at 59 Ocean Drive on the Kennebunk River in Kennebunkport and was acquired by the Kennebunkport Resort Collection last fall.

Harrington said that each of the 30 harborfront bungalows will have a private landscaped outdoor space with a teak terrace overlooking unobstructed river views.

The hotel interior rooms have been redesigned as bright and airy king-sized bedrooms with white shiplap walls, high ceilings and boutique-style furnishings in cheery shades of mango, magenta and sky blue.

Harrington said the Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club will also feature a newly renovated bar and among the complimentary amenities will be breakfast treats delivered daily, in-room wet bars and high-end coffee makers, free Wi-Fi, and use of bicycles, kayaks and canoes.

Guests also will have access to a heated swimming pool at Cape Arundel Inn & Resort’s Club House, and the workout facility and classes at Quest Fitness.

The Kennebunkport Resort Collection is a diverse portfolio of luxury and upscale properties including Hidden Pond, one a luxury boutique hotel, The Tides Beach Club, Southern Maine’s only beachfront luxury boutique hotel; the Kennebunkport Inn, The Cottages at Cabot Cove, The Lodge on the Cove, the Grand Hotel, and The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel. KRC also owns and manages restaurants and catering venues in York County.
