Children who will be age 5 on or before Oct. 15, 2018 will be eligible to register.

Begindergarten is a special “young fives” program designed for students whose fifth birthdays are in the summer or fall and who would benefit from an extra growth year before attending full-day Kindergarten.

Students in Begindergarten classes typically receive instruction in language arts (pre-reading/reading), science, math, and social studies. They also may take part in specials classes such as music, art, world languages, physical education. Students may have access to smart board technology to enhance learning and play is an important part of each class day allowing students to further develop friendship and social skills.

Kindergarten instruction typically focuses on student development in representing and comparing whole numbers and describing shapes and space. Students also acquire early educational skills so that they're ready and excited about transitioning to first grade.

An informational meeting for the parents of 2018-2019 Wells-Ogunquit Kindergarten/Begindergarten children will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22 in the Wells Elementary School cafeteria.

Childcare is not available at that meeting.

Wells Elementary School is at 276 Sanford Road in Wells.
