Sea Dogs fall to Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. — The Trenton Thunder (5-3) made it four straight wins, defeating the Portland Sea Dogs (5-3) for the second straight night, 4-1, Friday at Arm & Hammer Park. Trenton has won four straight, Portland has dropped three in a row.

Despite a quality start from Trey Ball (0-1), the young lefty took the loss in his first Double-A road start.

Portland took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Danny Mars (3-for-3) tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Aneury Tavarez.

Trenton used the fourth inning for the second straight night as their big inning, scoring three times off Ball. Mike Ford delivered the game-winning RBI with a two-run triple. Dante Bichette Jr. followed with a sacrifice fly. Ball finished with 6 strikeouts over 6 IP on 3 runs (one earned) and 5 hits allowed.

Yefry Ramirez (1-0) was terrific for the Thunder, tossing six innings on two hits and one run to secure his first Double-A win. Cale Coshow pitched a perfect ninth for his second straight save in the series.

Ty Buttrey pitched the final two innings for Portland, yielding a run on a wild pitch in the eighth. The Sea Dogs had just four hits - three by Mars and a single from Tzu-Wei Lin.

Portland and Trenton meet in the series finale on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM from Arm & Hammer Park. Righty Jacob Dahlstrand (1-0) makes his second start of the season for Portland. Lefty Daniel Camarena (0-0, 9.00) takes the mound for Trenton.
